2012 Ensemble Competition Results
"Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight
to the imagination and life to everything." Plato
Adjudicators: Ben Dix and Jeremy Tottenham (members of
Melbourne Guitar Quartet).
The performances were musically mature and outstanding. Making
a decision was tough. Expressions were nuanced and subtle.
Great technical ability of the performers, consideration of the
tonal qualities and dynamic range contributed to very polished
performances. It was an honour to be here. The playing was
inspiring and a stimulus to go home and pick up the guitar.
There is some good teaching occurring.
Intermediate section:
Aife Larkin and Robyn Gibson performing "Spiral Ellipse" and
"Romanza" by Richard Charlton
Advanced section:
Second place: Miles and Ziggy Johnston performing "Sonatina
Caotica" by Maximo Diego Pujol
First place: Julia Bakowski, Olivia Hally and Kim Falconer
performing "The Riddle" by Piotr Nowotnik
